We’ll discuss what motivates and distracts your dog and how those will affect training. In a 6-week group training course you’ll teach your dog to respond reliably to commands, even in exciting or stressful situations. Teach your dog to be calm when greeting people and dogs, cooperative when visiting the vet or groomer, and attentive even when surrounded by distractions like toys, food, and other dogs. If you want an overall well-behaved dog, or are hoping to participate in rally-o, agility, or advanced obedience down the road, this is the class for you! Coast $100.00. Schedule and Roster

Now that you have a good communication system in place and your dog has some basic skills you can take it to the next level. Practice long duration and a verity of distractions. The use of toys as a reward and motivator is introduced . Each week you will have the chance to practice greeting people and dogs . Get problem solving techniques for barking, jumping and digging. Recalls are stressed in this class! Class runs for 6 weeks.
This class was created to bridge the gap between class and the real world. Many dogs will perform great in class but once they leave class they “forget it all”. We will discuss why this has happened and how to correct the problem. Get guidance as to when and where to work your dog off leash. This one meets at a different location each week so we can keep the dogs on their toes. The locations are high distraction areas that include stairs, elevators, parking structures, foot traffic, and pet supply stores. Meet for one hour a week for 4 weeks. Cost $100.00. Schedule and Roster

I traveled up to Fairfield CA twice with Kona and Dash to attend some classes at the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers. ( michaelellisschool.com ) The first class was on the proper use of aversive. Michael has great insight into current studies that are being done on the subject as well as years of experience.

Later in the month I returned of a session on Advanced Obedience. There were some great and creative ways to work out the tiny details of competitive obedience. I brought back some great new body awareness exercises and may other tricks! I am having fun working with the dogs and adding things to my classes.
