In these classes you will learn how to get a better behaved dog. Using my training philosophy you will build a better relationship with your dog while you train. K9 Manners is the beginning class. Classes have a 6 person maximum to insure personal attention. After that class most people follow up with K9 Focus. This class focuses on working around distractions and fine-tuning obedience. Out and About is the “extra credit” that will really give your training the edge. All breeds, ages, and mixes are welcome. All family members are encourage to attend. K9 Manners ( 6 weeks $100)
A beginning-level class teaching the fundamentals of good manners – sit, down, stay, come, polite greetings and walking, wait at doors, and behavior modification. The basics of marker training ( specifically verbal markers) will be instructed. Building motivation and engagement will be goals of the class. Lastly learn what your role as owner really means from a leadership perspective. Identify areas where you may add to a behavior problem or even rewarding it. K9 Focus ( 6 weeks $100)
Balance and proofing are the main goals in this class. Now that the dogs understand what they are suppose to do they will be challenged to preform under a variety of distractions. Focus on the handler is stressed in this class. Dogs will be tough how to deal with frustration with out throwing a fit when they don’t get what they want. K9’s Out and About ( 4 weeks $100)
This 4-week class bridges the gap between training class and the real world. We’ll discuss why some dogs “forget” how to behave once they get home and how to correct the problem. Learn when and where it’s appropriate to work with your dog off-leash. This class one meets for one hour at a different location each week—the locations are high distraction areas that include stairs, elevators, parking structures, foot traffic, and pet supply stores.
